JennyBlock_byToddWrightHolding a BA and MA in English, Jenny Block taught college composition for nearly ten years before branching out as a freelance writer, sex educator, and poly activist.

Today, she is the weekly sex columnist for FoxNews.com and a frequent contributor to a number of high-profile publications and websites such as the Dallas Morning News, edgedallas.com, the Dallas Voice, and huffingtonpost.com. She has also had work published in and on the Dallas Observer, D Magazine, Spirit, yourtango.com, American Way, chow.com, Curve, literarymama.com, ellegirl.com, Veranda, and L Style/G Style.

Her book Open: Love, Sex, and Life in an Open Marriage, a 2008 Lambda Literary Award winner, was written about and reviewed both nationally and internationally by a number of media outlets, including Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, the New York Times, Glamour, Marie Claire, Curve, Observer UK, Maxi (Germany), Psychologies (UK), Playgirl, NPR’s Morning Edition, The New York Times, feministing.com, 2: The Magazine for Couples (Canada), wow-womenonwriting.com, San Francisco Chronicle, New York Daily News, and the Baltimore City Paper.

Jenny’s essays have been published in Rebecca Walker’s book entitled One Big Happy Family: 18 Writers Talk About Polyamory, Open Adoption, Mixed Marriage, Househusbandry, Single Motherhood, and Other Realities of Truly Modern Love, which received a starred review from Kirkus, and It’s a Girl: Women Writers on Raising Daughters, edited by Andrea Buchanan.

She enjoys speaking to audiences in bookstores, colleges, universities, community centers, and other venues. She recently appeared as a guest speaker at The Science Museum of Virginia and at Georgetown University.
