Ignacio Rivera, who prefers the gender-neutral pronoun “they,” has spoken at home and abroad on such topics as racism, sexism, homo/transphobia, transgender issues, anti-oppression, anti-violence, multi-issue organizing and more. In addition to lectures and keynotes, Ignacio’s work manifests itself through skits, one-person shows, poetry, spoken word performance, workshops, readings and experimental film.
Ignacio, aka Papí Coxxx, has brought the offerings below to a multitude of venues including the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!), Columbia University, Cornell University, La Salle University, Milwaukee Gay and Lesbian Center, several NGLTF Creating Change conferences, New York University’s Kimble Center, Princeton University, Swarthmore College, United States Student Association, University of Boulder, University of Michigan, Wellesley College and WOW Café, and many others.
- Performance pieces:
- Short skits and selected poetry specific to the trans body, gender fluidity, sex work and sex.
- Dancer is an hour-long funny, enlightening, political and extremely sexy performance piece. (contains nudity, tech and volunteers needed)
- Lagrimas de Cocodrilo / Crocodile Tears is an autobiographical story of trauma and healing, expressed through poetic monologues and story telling.
- Premiering in 2011, Ignacio prefers to have these smaller performance pieces
accompany one of their shorts, a discussion or workshop.
- Gender Boxed is a 5-10 minute performance art piece incorporating sexuality, poetry, Tran-formation and grey-areas. (contains nudity)
- Fluid is a 15 minute dissection of movement, naked truths, gendered-body-fluids, stereotypes and funky music. (contains nudity)
- Kiki is a 20 minute multi-media artistic expression of sex, gender spectrum and societal attribution woven together by images, sound and ex-sperm-e-mental movement. (contains nudity, tech needed)
Kiki is a term that was used in the lesbian bar culture of the 1950s and 1960s to describe someone who was neither butch nor femme. At that time, the bar culture was very much into roles and most women/female-bodied individuals were pressured to choose either butch or femme..

- They is a 9 minute experimental short, using archival footage, about one person’s journey through their fluid and loose gender expression.
- Transient is a 22 minute experimental film about the consciousness of identity within travel that also touches on issues of egocentrism, tolerance and gender attribution.
- Their debut performance in the adult film industry, Pink and White Productions' In Search of The Wild Kingdom, is an alternately humorous and down-and-dirty hot lesbian porn movie.
- Morty Diomand’s Trans Entities: The Nasty Love of Papí and Wil is a one-hour “docu-porn” that captures a real couple discussing their sex, sexuality and gender identity.
When not on tour, Ignacio consults with various organizations in New York City, conducting professional development trainings for NYC high school staff. They are also the founder of Poly Patao Productions (P3) - an organization dedicated to producing sex-positive workshops, performance pieces, films, play parties, panel discussions, social/political groups and educational opportunities specially geared toward queer women, transgender, multi-gender, gender-queer, gender non-conforming and gender variant people of color - and one of the founding board members of Queers for Economic Justice - a progressive non-profit organization committed to promoting economic justice in a context of sexual and gender liberation.
